Triple J Honda-tech Meet 2012 Part 1

Hafa adai and welcome to our coverage of Triple J’s 5th annual Honda-tech meet. Time flies pretty darn fast because I still remember the first meet that happened at Asan Beach Park. There were always talks by different parties on Dragguam on making a “Honda/Acura” meet… and I guess the marketing people at Triple J finally realized that the Honda crowd makes up the vast majority of the car tuning scene on Guam – and that a meet would not only be great for the island’s enthusiasts but also for business. Despite the inclement weather of the first meet, there was a good showing by the major car clubs – MTX, TRU, and M2S. Let’s flashback and take a quick look at how it was “back then.”

MTX – Check out OG car show king, Sherwin… chillin, representing the island, prim! 😛

TRU – Here you’ll see some cars that are actually still around but with completely different looks; like Jun Magbanua’s Civic SI (which is now black)

M2S – This one is pretty interesting because none of the guys in the lineup have a Honda anymore… lol

You can check out Youtube for coverage of the other meets in between… There’s lots of good stuff and it’s nice to see how things have been changing on island since then. Anyway, this year was just as successful as the rest. Last year there was a bigger turnout overall, and I’m just assuming here – but I think it was because of the many events going on during Memorial Day weekend. Irwin and I were at Jaime’s graduation – something we just wouldn’t miss for the Honda meet. We kinda got lucky that there was some extra time after the grad before Jaime’s celebration dinner, so we made a quick dash to the track to see how the event was going.

First pic that I took… Pretty clean hatch on Enkei 92s. Would look great with CTR mirrors.

Johnny Tran likes this.

Classic TE37 setup on this CRZ.

Nice stance on this Integra. Wonder how this car would look without all the stickers…

Haven’t seen this car since the GU’NITEZ last year. Nice to see it out and about again.

M2S~David with his ITR-powered Civic. He still has the blue OG (printed from the first batch) Hafadaze sticker on there!

Still one of my favorite Hondas on the island at the moment… Just some little details I’d change on there. You still owe me those squash air fresheners, Beiber!!!!

Seen this a couple of times on the road… nicely done.

Jay pulled in with Charley a little after we arrived…

Not sure what color this, but I really dug this “mango” colored Civic. Not a big fan of the rims, but everything flows nicely. The paint/body looked fresh, all the body parts looked like they fit right (no infamous gaps between the bumper/fender/hood).

Rear view.

I know many of you are wanting to see some coverage of the “race cars,” but sadly, my coverage of that particular portion of the show is non-existent. I was just too exhausted from the sauna that we call the UOG graduation at the Fieldhouse. I’ve seen some other pics of cars in the pits who were racing that day on Facebook, so I’ll try to pick and choose some of them to share with you guys on my next update. Hopefully, Alex can throw some of his coverage up too. Stay tuned for part 2…
