CAR CULTURE HAFADAZE

Showoff Guam Coverage Part 1

When I first got into the import car show scene here on Guam, the mainstay car shows that enthusiasts would expect to happen every year were Auto Jam and Island Import Night. Things started getting really big around 2005ish when almost everyone had a “fixed up” car or was in a car club or group. The scene was absolutely HUGE on island… Competition was fierce and people were spending thousands$$$ on their cars and were still willing to drop $50 multiple times a year to enter off their cars at a show… Then the unthinkable happened and Hot Import Nights came to Guam. At the time, HIN was the SuperBowl of car shows and it was quite the experience; Definitely some of the best times I’ve had in the show scene…. Before Hot Import Nights… before 2005… before The Fast and The Furious… there was a little show   from Orange County, California called Import Showoff. Founded by Ken Miyoshi, this upstart show pretty much paved the way for the car show scene that we experience today. More than 20 years in the making (Miyoshi’s first show was in 1994!!), “Showoff” finally made it to Guam. I was pretty damn excited and almost thought about borrowing some wheels from a friend, entering my car into the show, and reliving my glory days… lol. I eventually decided against the idea and was just happy to be a part of Showoff in some way… Pictured above is Jung Kim’s S2000, our booth car for Showoff Guam. Thanks to all who stopped by! We definitely can’t thank you enough…

This WRX owned by Taiyo Hashimoto from MTX car club was a showstopper… Sitting on some gold VIPModulars… He had a much better parking spot for this show (vs. OKGU) and he got some much deserved attention. He ended up taking home 1st in the turbo showoff category. Solid build.

Another Subaru, this time a BRZ from Ryu… Love everything about this car – nothing too flashy… functional and clean is the name of his game. Hook me up with one of those Sakura stickers! 😉

No stranger to the Hafadaze world, Tom Akigami’s Rocket Bunny Sil80; Tom was actually the main dude who helped bring Showoff to Guam thanks to his great working relationship with Ken Miyoshi…

The only Scion IQ that I’ve seen modded on island… Another build from the MTX car crew that took home 2nd place in the 2dr showoff category.
Ray Santos’ 86 Nissan looking cherry with that dump bed; I always get a kick out of that mod…

Rodell Abad’s Lexus GS still looking clean…

Manny Aquino’s LS 460 airred out on some Aimgain wheels; The Lexus crowd has been killing it recently…

AJ showing off at the VIP’dOut booth… kinda miss the TE37s on there. Bad angle on the new Aimgain wheels, but you can always check out #hafadaze on Instagram for more… 🙂

You’ve probably familiar with this Civic… it now has a new owner, Reymark from Menace. It looked as clean as ever with some new shoes, 17″ Enkei NT03s…

AutoFiesta 1/2 veteran, Ricky Crumley, came out again with his Jeep proudly rocking that blue/white Hafadaze sticker. He was a bit left out as there was no Jeep/Rig category, but it definitely received a lot of attention from showgoers.

Immaculate 67 Chevelle… this thing looked cleaner than my wife’s 2010 Scion lol

Ending today’s coverage with Jason Cabigting’s neck breaking Camry…

Brb with more. Thanks for tuning in…
