Let me start by saying that as long as you got the subway system down, you’re good to go in Japan. On several occasions my wife and I found ourselves mindlessly walking through the streets of Tokyo which surprisingly wasn’t scary at all. I felt safer in a foreign city than I do sometimes in Tumon, no offense, but i’m pretty sure people who’ve been to Tokyo would say the same thing. We took a trip to a popular tourist destination by way of fancy boat that for the life of me I can’t remember its name. In any case, the boat is cool and all, but if you’re from Guam, you’ve probably already been in a boat ride so admire it from the outside and take the train over to Odaiba, a man made island that’s full of cool stuff. Including this bad boy:
Sadly, i’d probably be able to tell you more about the Gundam RX 78-2 than I would the following car feature. So to make up for that, i’ve put together a good amount of photos for your visual pleasure.
In Odaiba, you’ll run into a bunch of shopping malls, Diver City Tokyo (pictured above) being one of them along with several others. Super cool architecture that are fun to look at. There’s a free bus system that takes you to all the major spots which allowed us to see what I “think” is most of the little island. We used the bus system to warm up (cause it was so cold) and get some rest, lol, tourists. Anyway, something all you carheads might enjoy is the Mega Web Toyota City Showcase where a bunch of sweet looking Toyotas are displayed to the public (daily too, I believe.) Check it out!
As soon as we walked in, there was a set of what we know as the Toyota FR-S, in Japan, GT86.
I’m sure FR-S fans might’ve seen this car somewhere else on the internet.
With the way that the interior was built, it wasn’t meant to fit this big filipino boy.
But that didn’t stop me from trying! (No, these pictures do not depict me anywhere inside the vehicle, lol)
If I could read this, it would probably say something like “for the older men who are young at heart..” — my opinion.
Guy in yellow, I rest my case.
They kept the rear though. Personally my favorite part about the FR-S/GT86.
I’d stick to the stock GT86 with an OEM lip kit. These are really great looking cars! Still turns my head when I see them on Guam. Esp. Proline’s John Ninete’s own. On a side note, he took home second place in the 2dr category.
On to the Lexus showcase!
Camry4Life!
Golf carts of tomorrow
This is where the lack of knowledge kicks my ass. When I first saw it I thought it was a concept, but then I could’ve swore I saw one on the road.
Clearly, I liked this car, lol.
Bottom floor of the showcase, there were a crapload of things going on that day.
Pretty sure I have this Supra on Gran Turismo! I thought it was cool seeing one of these up close. Almost the same feeling I got seeing the R34 from Fast & Furious at Universal Studios.
Two guys to the left were watching the car and letting people sit in it one by one. I saved myself the embarassment and just took pictures. :-S
VOLKS.WHAT.
Kawaiiiiiii!
My favorite display of the showcase.
The other thing I noticed is that Toyota not only has Lexus, but they have Crown. At first I thought Lexus was known as Crown in Japan, but that thought eventually died after visiting the showroom. Bleh.
Japan was awesome! It’s crazy, I feel like half the city is underground. I have more content to post eventually, but I thought this’d be a cool treat to our readers. In the next feature i’ll be sharing my amazing eating experience I had out there. In the meantime, thanks for dropping by!
