Upshift’s Battle Showcase Coverage Part 2

March 10, 2017 11:30 am

Welcome back to our exclusive coverage of Upshift’s Battle Showcase event…the first car show of the 2017 season. Be sure to check out Part 1 if you haven’t already… Big thanks to Myer of Admyerphotos for being the man behind the lens once again; Check out his recently launched website at www.admyerphotos.com!

Graffiti competitions have become a norm at our local car shows… There’s lots of stuff to do for everyone…

Drags were in full effect…

Journey Beltran from Team Ghost staging in his CRX…

Ohhhhh kill em…

The drifters were also given some time do an exhibition to the delight of the crowd…

The panda dude from Look Super…

Meanwhile, back at the car show… Team Exile was out in full force.

As was Nathan “nate2chains” Trinidad’s Camry… This guy has always been killing it in the past few shows with his Camry. He took home the “Most Slammed” honors of the night as judged by Ryan “Rywire” Basseri.

Always nice to see the Vdub owners come out with their well-kept rides.

Ray Santos came out once again with his “It’s all about the 80’s” 86 Nissan 720…

… and drove out with top honors in the Mini Truck category.

Also from the year 1986, Jovi Tiamzon’s Toyota Corolla… “Best Toyota” of the show…

Crazy to see this 1983 Toyota Publica owned by Toru Kumagai… I’m usually good at pointing out all the generations of Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas, and even Nissan Sentras (#guamcarculture) lol… but dude I had no idea what this vehicle was. It’s going to be interesting to see what other cars grace our island’s roads! I believe that all these cars  (and all dem R32 Skylines)  on our roads have been imported as a “classic” or “antique” car… or what they call the 25-year old rule. Google it.

Let’s go ahead and travel back into present time with this slammed Scion TC from the famed MTX fam…

Anthony Unchangco’s 1st Place VIP Lexus IS350, also reppin’ MTX.

Stephen Chong’s Lexus RC350 slammed with Airlift…

Another RC350 from MTX~Bippusan fitted with a Nia Auto Design splitter kit on the ballin’ out VIP Modular rims… Check out that mirror image on the paint!

Markster always active in his FRS slammed via Airlift and also sitting on copper VIP Mods…

Bert Delos Reyes’s LVJMOBxGUDMUNCHIES murdered out 350z on you guessed it, VIP Mods…

Team Exotic FRS owned by EJ… I think…

Thought this Tacoma owned by Don David was pretty cool…

Yep… It’s boosted.

Rudy Raval’s imposing “BEAST” H2 Hummer…

Kurt Favo from Team Exile’s 2nd Place Honors Bagged 370z…

Noel Manansala’s Porsche 911 Turbo… AND his Lexus LS430…

The last time we’d seen Noel’s LS430 was when it debuted at last year’s Showoff Guam… Almost a year later, not much has changed but Noel’s LS still managed to take home Best of Show Honors… He went completely out of the box for local builds… The crazy pink paint and the “out there” accessories inside; and of course it’s still a trip to see this car hopping on hydros.

Closing out coverage of Upshift’s Battle Showcase with a bird’s eye view of some of the car show participants. Showoff Guam is right around the corner and we are expecting that more builders will be ready to reveal what they’ve been working on…With that, we would like to thank you all once again for tuning in and supporting our cause. Whether it be at the shows, the drags, drifting, etc… Gotta keep the scene alive! ~HFDZ
