CAR CULTURE

Motion Auto Show

Nice, milky… stems and coconuts. πŸ™‚

Resident photog IRWN is one lucky chel’lu. As I’m trying to start typing up this post, he’s chatting with me on Facebook about all the fun he’s having up on the West Coast. His main purpose of visiting Las Vegas was to visit family and attend some photography classes…however he took the great opportunity to meet up with some of the Guam boys who are there and also our dear recently relocated Hafadaze crew member, RTHR. I really wanted him to do the write-up so he could share his experiences, but we all know that his writing skills are as good as three-year old, expired soy sauce. Sooo, I’ll try my best to provide some commentary of what I know about the Motion Auto Show, the first event that IRWN covered for Guam’s most favorite car culture website. πŸ˜‰

The show was held at the Long Beach Convention Center in killla Cali. IRWN went on a road trip with Ray De Leon (from Guaranteed Auto fame), Ray Tumanda, and their LV crew to show support for the Guam boys from Autohype, led by Michael Flores. I wish there were more pics of them, but sadly I’m working with what IRWN uploaded on our Flickr. I saw a bunch of other pics on FB though… so if you want to do some snooping around I’m pretty sure you can find more!

The infamous Rywire CRX. “Rywire” is a common name for us Honda heads. This guy changed the wire harness game!

Shot of his bay… It had a K-swap a couple of years ago; not entirely sure why he went back to a B-series. Still chnnneeeery though.

Big Mike and his Prelude.

You won’t see any other Prelude as unique and clean as this. Years ago, he made the cover of Honda Tuning. The car already had everything imaginable done to it but he rebuilt it from the ground up again a year or two ago with the minty green paint you see above. He’s been taking 1st place honors at almost every show he enters his car in. Impressive! Do a Google search if you want to see how comprehensive his build was… Cleaner than the new JFK!

Jerri Lee. I feel like working out now…Cue the trance music.

Mike G’s “TANK.”

This car is another well known vehicle on the West Coast. What’s cool is this guy actually knows about our island… Mike, if you’re reading this, I’m throwing you a hang loose sign right now, primu!

For some reason when I look at this pic… I think of Micronesian Mall food court packed with military personnel chowing during lunch in their uniforms. Don’t you?

IRWN (right) met Kenty Choken’s cousin… That’s actually Bisi, owner of Bisimoto Engineering; widely known for their race proven products.

Simon says please sit on the table and prepare for the fiesta line…..or not.

Michael Flores from Autohype…

You guys probably know him as he has written a few of the Cruising articles in the Pacific Daily News. He also has that column about the car modding scene (also in the PDN) from time to time…

The scene out there is alive and well. There were so many car shows and meets going on in a short period of time. It was only a couple of years ago when it was like that here on Guam… Auto Jam… Import Night… X5… Paseo… Hopefully we can bring back those days again in the near future. We’re thinking about starting up a Wednesday night meet, just to get the scene moving again and to finally meet some of you guys who visit our site. Check our Facebook for updates. We got lots of big plans coming up. Stay tuned guys! πŸ™‚

  1. I just happened to come across this blog and I wanted to take the time to thank you for the shot and the kind words about my Prelude. It is greatly appreciated.
