CAR CULTURE

Drop it like it’s hot

A good friend of mine, M2S~Bong recently got a Nissan Frontier to use for his daily work duties. Being the owner of BBQ Bad Boys on Route 16, Bong needed the hauling capabilities of the Frontier to transport his tent and barbecue grill. He wheeled and dealed and went ahead and did the infamous “Dragguam.com swap”… meaning he swapped his previous car (Integra) with the truck he found on DRAG’s classifieds. It was an even swap… no pitbulls, aircons, fighting roosters, or Nokia phones involved. Considering the mileage and condition of both vehicles, I would say he got a pretty good deal!

When I say he got a good deal I wasn’t lying. Just check out that interior. That thing is cherry like Auntie Mary… haha! All jokes aside, the truck ran well and had ice cold A/C. Still good, still good. What Bong wanted to do was to drop the truck, “so it could look more like an import” as he says. The whole process would be done at M2S~Jay’s garage… and I would be there to somewhat document it. πŸ˜‰ Sorry, there’s no before-drop pics because when I got there it was already being worked on.

Jay taking a look at what they had to work with…. I’m not trying to be racist or anything here (everything is in good fun for your reading pleasure!), but these guys weren’t used to the process of dropping a truck… so we had to call our Chamorro friend – M2S~Jerome, who knew just about everything about it. I wish I had recorded the conversation they were having on the speakerphone because I had no idea what they were talking about. I’ll admit, I’m not a wrencher, people know that. People will talk a bunch about not being able to get down and dirty – so what? I work hard for the money to pay those who will do the job correctly. Can I change my oil? Yes. Can I pull a motor? No. What does that matter to you? Blah, sorry for the rambling, but that’s a whole ‘nother thing to talk about.. Anyway, what I’m writing about here is not the process of how to do it… more like the experience of being there? If that makes any sense.

Some of the parts used… Drop blocks that were traded for 2 packs of cigarettes… seriously….only on Guam. The “horseshoe” bolts were purchased from Proline Automotive in Harmon.

Bong being an exhibitionist… Thank god Mr. Angry Bird showed up right at the nick of time.

M2S~Dennis chillin in the front yard…

While Bong and Jay we were working, Dennis and I went to the Valencia store down the overunderpass in Barrigada to grab some melon drinks for us… Took a shot of my truck with the new Hafadaze sticker you can purchase at our store. Also shoutouts to Drew from SOHI Garage/LURKN in Vegas!

A little while later, the back of the truck was done so Bong rolled it out the garage to work on the front.

Guess Den’s daggan looked and smelled like a King Pig…

No parts needed to drop the front. I don’t even remember the name of what they were adjusting. Yeah, I’m gangster like that.

Random shot with JME’s Integra. Thought it looked cool with the sunset and all.

Finished product. This was taken a day or two after when some of the M2Sfam went on a mini-cruise. Looks pretty good, with the “Cali drop” (slightly lower in the front for the raked look). Bong has already added more mods to his truck to keep with the Guam theme including a Fokai sticker and always making sure to stick out his forearm when driving. He also plans to remove the tailgate and maybe even add a pro-net in the back! haha! Seriously, keep an eye out for this truck, as he has some big plans for it. πŸ˜‰
