CAR CULTURE

CTR-Inspired

This 98′ Honda Civic Hatchback owned by Ian Elago may look plain to the untrained eye, but it could possibly be many a Honda owners’ dream ride. This may sound stalker-status, but I have followed this car since it’s Rota wheel days. Although the Civic is not a “real” Civic Type-R, it has just about every aesthetic part from Honda’s famed EK9 chassis.

However, instead of finding a CTR B16B under the hood, original owner James Fleming opted to drop in an ITR B18C. Sweet.

5 lug goodness.

EK9-inspired… even down to little details like this plate.

Since this car landed on Guam, I’ve been a fan. I actually even almost traded my Civic SI for it awhile back. However, it wasn’t as in mint condition as I had thought so the deal fell through.

When the car finally made it’s Guam car show debut at the Simon Sanchez High School Autoshowdown-II earlier this year, it brought home top honors. The car was ridiculously clean… Ian had done a bunch of work to it and also had a installed a new Airwalker front bumper (not pictured). Hopefully we’ll see it out again soon… maybe with even more goodies!
